Information

Impulse Devices, Inc. is an applied physics research and development company specializing in physical acoustics, particularly acoustic cavitation of liquid media under high pressure.

Since its founding in 1999, Impulse Devices, Inc. has become the world leader in high-pressure cavitation performance as well as being at the forefront of developing the technological capacity required for acoustic inertial confinement fusion (Acoustic ICF). Basic research into Acoustic ICF and the capture of related intellectual property continue to be Impulse’s principal goals.

Many of the company’s significant contributions to the field have been the subject of scholarly articles and presentations at professional meetings around the world. Impulse presently holds more than 35 patents based on its groundbreaking research.

In 2007, Impulse became the prime research and development laboratory in a federally funded contract to advance Acoustic ICF technology. Joined in this effort by subcontracting partners Boston University, University of Washington Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound (CIMU), Rutgers University, and the University of Mississippi National Center for Physical Acoustics – Impulse continues to expand the parameter space of physical acoustics.

Impulse also has begun developing derivative technologies to bring high power acoustic cavitation to a broad spectrum of both research and industrial applications. The company’s physical acoustics experts are available for consultation or collaboration in designing devices directed at meeting commercial and research objectives through the use of high pressure acoustic cavitation.
